Jacob Magiera

  • Mr. Magiera attended the previous night’s Mayor & Council meeting and Joseph Accardi came up with some good questions regarding school children and AvalonBay. Perhpas the BOE should get together with Mayor & Council to discuss the issues that would affect the residents. Senator Lesniak is pushing to have COAH until June 2009 instead of January 2009. Presently, with PILOT, there will be no money for the Board of Education. If there are special education students, the cost will be $40,000. If the BOE budget goies up, it will affect senior citizens. Mr. Spagnoletti stated the the BOE has been in contact with the municipality. The board was briefed in closed session (due to legal contracts) about the Mayor & Council meeting. The BOE is concerned but is willing to give the municipality more time. Mr. Magiera stated that he hopes the Borough will do best for all of Roselle Park. He finally wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Elisabeth Qersdyn

  • Mrs. Qersdyn stated that in other municipalities there is a reverse 911 for their schools and wanted to know the progress of Roselle Park’s reverse 911.  The superintendent stated it is in the works for the 2009 school year. There is a new software sytem that is being implemented.  Not only will it auto-dial for emergency situations but a phone call to parents (to three different contact numbers) for absences will also be part of the system. Mr. Genovese asked if bids have been taken for the system yet. Mr. Spagnoletti stated that there is no need to go out for bids for state contracts.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm
